The magic of nature
The unique colour of new beech leaves is a phenomenon which has great significance to me personally.
It evokes memories of childhood – we called the beech woods the “fairy woods” and this colour has become ‘fairy green’ in our household. I also love how the fragile, vibrant, almost translucent, green leaves contrast with the strength and solidity of the branches and trunk. Each serving to showcase the other.
It signifies change – the change of season where we cast off the dreariness of winter and look forward to balmy days of summer. Perhaps most importantly this year, it signifies hope. From starkness springs new life…
