Couture on a small scale
Barbie binge-making – the term used (in our house) to describe staying up past midnight poring over the sewing machine making tiny dresses and outfits for dolls.
Every fabric scrap, odd sock and scruffy t-shirt gets reused and receives a new life as a glamorous mini ball gown, summer dress with matching accessories or little leggings for pretend play.
I enjoy coming up with my own designs, but I especially love the magic of taking a child’s 2D picture and transforming it into a 3D outfit for their doll – and who knows, maybe inspiring a future fashion designer?
I donate a lot of my mini creations to sell at charity events, but I also love popping a parcel into the post or leaving a package on a doorstep to surprise a little friend.
